Our verbal history of the Savage fanily comes
mostly from Mildred Lenore Elliott Parsons, Margaret Ann's mother and my Great
Aunt. Aunt Mildred is 96, same as my Father, Norman Lynch. He left the Berlin
area in 1927 and doesn't remember much of the Savage history.
The family Lore say Elizabeth Jane Savage had 5
children by 5 different men and never married any of the fathers. We have a copy
of the will which names 4 daughters and 1 son, also the father of the
son.

In the will, Elizabeth doesn't give her son's last
name. In the 1960 census he is listed as John Elliott " , which indicates to me
that his last name is the same as the preson in the line above which is
Savage.
The upshot this whole thing is, did Elizabeth Jane
have an affair/fling with Wesley W. Savage( she was known as Jane Savage)? Could
be, Dagsboro and St. Martins aren't that far apart. Wesley appears in the 1860
and 1870 census as unmarried.
