DELMAR -- Elmer Donald "Don" Robinson, 80, of Delmar died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born July 2, 1929, in Clarksville as a son of the late Elmer Donald and Ethel (Cullens) Robinson. Don, as he was fondly known to his family and friends, spent his early years in Smyrna before moving to Delmar in the 1960s.
For many years, he was the owner and operator of Don's Inspection in Salisbury. He enjoyed re-manufacturing stainless steel and black Delaware license plates. After retirement, he worked as a seasonal ranger for 11 years at Trap Pond State Park in Laurel. He was one of the original members of the roundtable at the former Linda's Railroad Café in Delmar. Delmar sports were his passion as he helped coach the Delmar High wrestling team for many years.
He is survived by a daughter, Cathy E. Nash and her husband, Bud, of Laurel; a granddaughter, Nicole E. Fooks and her husband, Brian, of Delmar; and two great-grandchildren, Derek and Caden Fooks. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen (Fenimore) Robinson; a son, Donnie Robinson; and two brothers, Edwin and Zane Robinson.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. George's United Methodist Church Cemetery in Clarksville.
Contributions may be made in his memory to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, Del. 19947.
